Daily Dog: Resistance Is Futile

There are few thing in this world as charming and hard to resist as an Australian Labradoodle. When this one comes trotting toward you with his sweet smile, you are in big trouble. It’s all over. He owns you.

Well, he certainly owns me.And that big one back there. He’s no less dangerous in terms of the deadly love force.

Daily Dog: Gratuitous Cuteness

There is no good reason for all this cuteness. I saw the cuteness and took a picture of it. Now I’m just sharing. And bragging. These doodles are being both sweet and cute. Oh, and they are being fun. That’s not unusual, in case you haven’t noticed.

We went for a good hike this morning and did some photographic experiments. Well, I did the experiments. These guys got roped in as little as possible. They spent as much of their time sniffing, trotting around and chasing each other as they could. Posing for Mom only when absolutely necessary.

We are safely back inside, and I’m working away on another post on this decidedly fall day. This is exactly the kind of weather for hanging out inside, watching some football, snuggling with some dogs and doing some blogging. We’ll see if I get my project done. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t!

In the meantime, you are local and want to join us in our Doodle Day of Beauty, be sure to let us know!

Daily Dog: Frisbee Madness

I wonder what he wants.

I walk out of the house and see this. Sam is sitting there all alert and hopeful. Now what in the world could this dog, this sweet, gentle and lovely dog want? It seems as though he perhaps has something on his mind. Doesn’t it?

I wonder what it could be? Would you perhaps like to play F-bee, Sam?

Daddy grabbed the frisbees and I grabbed the camera. And Sam started doing the happy frisbee dance.

I took another crack at getting the perfect frisbee photo. I know it’s not likely that we are going to get it in the back yard. I’m pretty sure, unless we get extra lucky, we are going to need a serious expanse of lawn or beach to accomplish this particular goal. Today is a good day to practice, though.

Sam will take any excuse to chase the frisbees. Practice photographing it, whatever…! Just throw it, throw it, throw it! Come on! Throw! IT! Continue reading

Starter Kit For Your Australian Labradoodle Puppy

Sam when he was a tiny little thing.

If you are getting a puppy, you are going to need stuff! I bought boatloads of stuff, and not all of it was good/helpful. A lot of it ended up sitting unused in the house or out in the garage. I tried to get things that I saw listed in the books about raising a puppy…but have you seen those puppy supplies checklists? OMG. It’s everything under the sun, and vague suggestions at the same time. For example, “your puppy will need a crate, so get one the correct size, not too big and just enough room to stand up/turn around”. Or something like that. That didn’t help me at all. So I got a $25 plastic portable crate for Sam that he fit into for about 4 weeks…but I wasn’t sure what else to do. The lists said the kinds of items to get, but not what to get. I needed specifics! So I’m going to help you. Continue reading

Daily Dog: Swag Alert

You have to admit it. These backpacks are cute. I’m starting into a new phase of Doodle Madness. I’m pretty sure I’m going over the top because now I’m all about accessorizing.

This is weird. I’m not a big shopper by nature. So I don’t know what to make of this new thing I’m doing.

Hold on everyone. It’s probably going to be a bumpy ride. I think I’m going to have to channel my deep desire to get another puppy (thwarted effectively by threats of divorce) into cool new stuff for the doods. I still need to order a collar for Luke. And a spiffy leash from D&T like I got for Sam. Who knows what else I’m going to get…

Run for the hills!

I love to go hiking or running with the Doods in the morning. There really is nothing better. See that structure in the background? That’s three miles in from our starting point. It’s also where there were a group of admirers… They had to pose for pictures. Again. Poor doods.

So that was three miles in, and if my math is correct, that means three miles out. Six miles-ish. This was intended to wear them out. I was pretty sure I did a good job of that.
Here’s what they decided to do after the hike (and breakfast)… image

So…maybe not so worn out?

Trapped Inside

Australian Labradoodle, Black & White

It’s just too hot to do anything but get very, very flat.

Man! It’s hot outside! Even Sam doesn’t want to hang out in the backyard. Which is unusual, because he generally loves being in backyard in the evening. That’s when the breeze is blowing through, and you can find the big dog on the lawn with his nose tipped up to catch the scents going by.
But not today! Even after I watered down his favorite shady spot, came to the door and gave me the “Can I please come in?” woof.
I decided that probably deserves a measure of sympathy. In the form of a treat. Which he received and ate so quickly that I didn’t get a picture of it. That’s a good dog!
